  • Never refuel while running or hot
  • Connect appliances directly - don't plug into house outlets
  • Use heavy-duty, outdoor-rated extension cords
  • Install CO detectors in home
  • Keep dry - don't use in rain without cover

Space Heater Safety

  • Keep 3 feet clear of anything that can burn
  • Place on flat, hard surface - never carpet or furniture
  • Turn off when leaving room or going to sleep
  • Plug directly into wall outlet - never extension cord
  • Use heaters with automatic shut-off features
  • Never use in bathrooms or near water

Downed Power Lines

  • Call 911 and your power company
  • Never touch anything in contact with the line
