Burn Permits & Regulations

In Mascoutah and most Illinois communities, open burning has restrictions. Check with your local fire department before burning.

๐Ÿ”ฅ General Burning Rules
  • Check if burn permits are required in your area
  • No burning during air quality alerts or burn bans
  • Burn only dry, natural vegetation (leaves, branches)
  • No burning trash, plastics, or treated wood
  • Maintain safe distances from structures
  • Have water source or fire extinguisher nearby
  • Never leave fire unattended
  • Fully extinguish before leaving
โš ๏ธ Weather Conditions

Never burn when windy (over 10 mph), during dry conditions, or when humidity is low. Fires spread quickly and unpredictably.
